I was in big trouble at 13 and had social workers around me too. My God were they easy to hoodwink! I remember laughing at how soft and gullible they were. Falling over themselves to believe I was really a good boy.

Regardless of rehabilitation, what about a decent punishment? Is that not part of justice? Whatever they have become the fact is they do not deserve to have their entire adult life in freedom. They took that childs life away entirely. They do not deserve freedom for a very long time.

See when the case about their original recommendations went to Europe the Ministry of Justice got hammered by the European court for extending their sentence recommendations, claiming it was unfair to the children etc etc judiciary looking to punish and not rehabilitate blah blah blah, so when their applications for release under licence came up the MoJ had no real excuse to keep them in secure accomodation. The reports put in by various officials recommended release. So they were released under licence.

I think they should have just got a prison term (of course not an adult prison, but a child equal of prison, and at best they should have got 8 years in "rehab" then life in prison

Well they got 8 years in a nice secure accomodation as opposed to a young offenders institute, then let out under life licence. They didnt really do any sort of punishment, they had TV's playstations in their lovely little rooms, holidays including some abroad. Private tutirs and a nice education up to and including A levels. probably a better upbringing than they would have had outside, if they hadnt commited the offence.

The other thing that grips me is why werent their parents held in some way accountable for their actions?

"The fact that the statement has been put out... does not mean he has been recalled within the last 24 hours," he said.

Denise Fergus says she believes Venables is 'back where he belongs'

"It's more likely that information about his whereabouts has leaked and the Ministry of Justice has taken a pro-active step to limit the damage.
