It's doubtful that she had to sacrifice much in order to pursue her dream of becoming a singer when she had her parents money to support her, that's all. This isn't a girl who was living a meagre, penniless existence, hoping against all hopes to land the huge contract or find an audience.

Eh, I feel the need to elaborate on this.

I was definitely not one of the first people to 'discover' her, but I did first hear of her sometime in 2007, I think. I found her purevolume account, and liked one of the songs on there, but never thought to look her up again. I definitely know it was early because she had dark hair in all her pics, and this picture was her default, but even then she was being hyped up to be big.

When she first started to emerge as famous online, it took me a while to 'get' her. Once I got hooked on 'Beautiful, Dirty, Rich' however, it was all up from there. I waited for the international edition of 'The Fame' to be released and downloaded that with all her demos, and from then on, have downloaded every song that she's made.

I know I won't get fed up with her because for me, she's the perfect popstar. She's got a good voice, as well as musical talent (plays piano, writes songs), she makes consistently fantastic pop songs with good looks and hidden meanings, her videos are artistic and creative, and she's theatrical. As a performer myself I'm a huge sucker for anything theatrical, and her live performances have always drawn me in. I saw her in the Monster Ball Tour and she's surpassed every other act I've ever seen live. As long as she makes music, I'll definitely follow her. I know she's not perfect, but no-one is. Point is, there's not one song of hers I dislike, and I can't wait to see what'll happen next.

People hold so many unfair and prejudgist views against her. For instance, the product placements in the Telephone [the majority of which, are not product placements], was in memory of Andy Warhol, someone who without a doubt would have loved Lady Gaga. She takes things that are extremely normal, and turns them into inotive designs. She's one of the first artists in years to trully care about the visuals. I could sit here and talk to you about her until I'm blue in the fact, but the truth is.. you'll never understand what I mean until you see her live.

Yes, I was stating a fact. She was well known on the web by mid 2008. Could you enlighten me on which part of my maverick statement was fabrication?

Yes, it is patronizing. Your robbing people of the ability to dislike her. In your eyes you either love her, or you don't get her. I understand everything you are saying about her yet I still have my own views and don't like her. I suggest you learn to live with it.

eh, in a way.

As a person there's a lot I dislike about her. She seems boring as ****. She has no real charisma or 'presence' in interviews, and she's always completely awkward and dull. Sure, she covers all that up with stupid costumes and extravagance - but that's just shallow. It's all for attention, and annoyingly, it works. I don't care if she looks like a ****ing doily, I just want to hear her music and see her perform.

Musically, there's little to fault. She writes great songs, and whilst a lot are repetitive (I'm getting tired of hearing "eh" and the generic-Red-One beat), the majority are not. Plus she cites Queen and Bowie as influences...which, well, I have a hard job seeing in her actual material (it's rather like Tinie Tempah citing Metallica as a musical influence, really) so I'm sure it's more of an aesthetic thing.

Ultimately I guess my issue is with the current music scene rather than her - she's just played it very well.
