And they weren't provoked?

There is never any excuse for violence and frightening ordinary people going about their own business - but these things always attract certain types that spoil them for everybody else. But people are understandably angry when groups of Islamists show such disrespect and distain for the sacrifices made by men and women of the British forces - a country in which they choose to live and economically benefit from!
Valid Points, however the demonstrations yesterday were about the building of a large mosque in Dudley. The local council had refused to allow it, this ruling was overruled by the Government.

Following last Septembers demonstration in Birmingham by the EDL where drunken demonstrators initally clashed with rival demonstrators then with police. The police decided to hold the demonstration coralled within a linked fence area. And decided to keep separate the counter demonstration by the UAF(Unite against Fascism).

The reports of violence etc were greatly exaggerated. It is interesting to note that the EDL themselves claim the violence etc was as a result of agitators from the Muslim community, the result of being coralled by the police with claustrophobia and the fear of being trampled, oh and even the fact that UAF infiltrators in their ranks started it.
