Haha.. That made me laugh with quite a lot of force! I completely know what you mean, but you're right about him making women drool. Strangely enough, the teenagers who this is all written for seem to be indifferent towards the Edward attraction... it seems to be older women who are re-entering their youth and obsessing over a sparkly man in a silver volvo. ( I am not calling myself "an older woman") Well, I'm certainly not a teenager..

Aye, the Twilight phenomenon seems to know no age limits. I have a 7 year old sister, a 19 year old shag on the side, and a 34 year old aunt who are all equally into it.

I think (for us oldies anyway) that Meyer manages to capture completely the feelings of teenage angst associated with affairs of the heart during our schooldays. The whole "does he like me" "does he hate me" "god he spoke to me" "why hasn't he spoken to me today" and then the feeling of utter desolation and devastation of being dumped!
When you're in your 30s with kids, mortgage, housework and responsibilities in general, those feelings seem a lifetime away so I think that's why the books are popular amongst women. My friend said "god they make me feel just like a teenager again"
Also Edward may be a ridiculous character to a lot of people, but again to women he has it going on.. big time! He is quite dominant and selfish in a lot of ways but will do anything for his woman and also (as he was born in 1901) has a lot of old fashioned values...

As poorly written as they are, I can see your points. However, most of them relate to women. So we can draw the line .

Hahaha... I have to agree with you there.
Although, my brother in law was feeling left out I think as my sis and I and friends were into it/talking about it/having Twilight parties etc and to prove how crap the whole thing is, he has started reading them.. Now, he says they're complete nonsense..... but he's still reading it?
