But if it was someone I was involved with as well as being involved with my friend who had a problem with them I would probably just choose a side. I find it makes life easier. Plus I find fence sitting irritating.
But what if you've been friendly with the said person and then cut him off just because of something your friend said? What if the majority sided with some bullshi$ reason your friend came up with to turn everybody's backs on him/her?

Well it depends of the severity of the situation obviously and if it was something really terrible or serious then I would obviously be less flippant with my actions but in the case of your average falling out, I find floating in the middle does you no favours in the end and just shows you up as being a bit vanilla. So I would side with the person I agreed with most in the knowledge it would probably be sorted in the end or at least to the degree that I would eventually be able to be friends with both, post argument.

Nothing terrible, nothing serious, and it has been apologized over.

*wasn't aware this was related to a current issue*

well in that case I suppose I would just be friendly towards both. But my point is that if it came down to it at crunch time, I would without a doubt just choose a side. And I usually respect people for doing that.

Yeah, so would I, but what about when it occurs over the net and somebody is just banished because of it, even though they've been talking to the others with no problem prior to this and then suddenly find themselves ostracized?

[might I just add that with all due respect unless you name names this is starting to look a tad petty, but I'll continue for the sake of it.]

If it happened over the net I would probably be even more definitive about it. At the end of the day these people dont have to speak to each other and makes little difference to their lives whether or not they do. While there's no need to make it a dead awkward thing for others around by being rude or nasty to the person, I wouldn't bother making the effort to get around the issue because there's not really any need to in my opinion. I would just ignore them furthermore.

Yep, and I probably will. It just hurts when you try to be nice and then are cut off because of what one person thinks of you, you know that way?
