Over-sensitive much?. What do you expect from a successfull business woman?, she's just finding her feet, and anyway, maybe some of thse lot need bossing about.

I notice a distinct lack of complaints from people about Nathan taking control of the kitchen, or of jj taking control of (female) housemates.

One rule for 1 and 1 rule for another depending on what sex you are? surely not?.

If she's really that successful she wouldn't have to boss people around. A good manager knows how to motivate and get the best out of people. We only know what we've been told about this woman. She works for a travel agent - big deal... it's hardly Dragon's Den. I'm sure there are more successful people on this forum who are half so pleased with themselves.

I just used the "bossing about" term to paraphrase the o.p. She must be doing something right, she's won awards. And as for Good managers not needing to motivate, Why do "celebrity chefs" get away with it?. I remeber Rex describling himself as a "professional bully" because he worked in a kitchen, this seemed to impress people.

Richard Branson is successfull and he's no where near bossy...

She's won awards through meeting criteria on a piece of paper, not by how many employees like her

I didn't say good managers don't need to motivate. I said good managers would know how to motivate without bossing people around.

I admire anyone who works hard, but I dispise people who bang on about themselves. If you have to talk yourself up continually, there's something wrong with you. Most really successful people have a little humility... but then I guess she just works for a high street travel agency so has to talk herself up a little. I hope she's thinking of retraining as more and more people book online.

Maybe she was answering questions from the others who were trying to get to know her a bit?.

Gold digger? because she's proud of what she's achieved?. If you say so. And that's not the definition of a "gold digger" anyway, a gold digger is someone (usually accepted to be a woman) who goes after and uses someone else's wealth.

I think money is her definition of success in life and anybody who has not got money is a failure in her mind and not deserving of respect

And, with all due respect, I didn't say you did, I said, there are -plenty- of managers who don't so much motivate as bully through threats, verbal abuse, intimdation and acts of violence and who then go on to get awards and make millions.

You didn't say "managers", said "celebrity chefs" boss people around. People don't take kindly to bullying in the workplace. If you want to get the best out of people you have to know how to manage them properly.

I've just had a look and yes, you're right, I -did- say celebrity chefs. What I meant was that, because they're incharge -in their environment- they are the managers in that environment and as such, get away with their behaviour, even winning awards and making vast amounts of money.
