I was talking to a chap from Yorkshire(Gods county)who emigrated to Canada in 1957 ,he STILL talk broad Yorkshire

And here up in North Yorkshire there are so many different twangs, it can change from village to village.
My parents never lost their accent in all the years we lived in Africa but we kids all did. Within months of us moving back, years later, we were back to our original accents.
