Corrie have just announced the casting of the driver of the fateful tram that will crash through Coronation Street, as part of the show's spectacular 50th anniversary episodes.

Actor Tom Burroughs has been revealed as the man who will be behind the wheel, when the tram is forced off the rails with devastating consequences.

However, Tom is no stranger to the cobbles, having previously appeared as a nurse in 2007. He has also been in Emmerdale and acted extensively on stage and in theatre.

Our press office revealed that Tom is due to take part in some impressive night shooting and will be working with legendary 'Doctor Who' and 'Corrie' director Graeme Harper, who has plenty of experience filming big explosions!

As an aside, do any trams in Manchester actually go over viaducts? I thought they were all on roads

And yep, they do go along viaducts, here's one in Castlefield, Manchester, aka where Corrie is filmed (in fact the canal there is where Tony dumped Liam's phone and where Roy was pushed into the water )

That's codswallop from The Sun, they haven't even flimed the tram crash yet, lol. And they say that the Websters live at No.13, when they moved across the street yonks ago
