They actually expected some cards from my family too and I told them we don't do that in France, neither in Russia or Italy. I can see where you're coming from about Christmas, I've got the feeling people forget what it is all about sometimes so it makes it quite pointless. But then again, to some people, it's a nice way of seeing the whole family and being in peace for once. You don't enjoy it as much as you used to when you're grown up anyway: you just want to eat and drink.
