Allows you to access the net when on the move using a laptop provided the provider has coverage in that area.

If you move into another house that hasnt a telephone connection it may be a few weeks before Openreach can install a phoneline, so a dongle will allow you to use the internet while you wait.

If your credit rating is pretty crap and a telephone provider wont provide you with a phone connection for a while same as above.

Mate of mine is in a similar situation Openreach say 5 weeks before they can instal a line. He went with 3 though, daft sod.
