And if they killed her they have to still act like theyre doing the above to stop suspicion. So its a catch22 really. |

I do feel sorry for them too. If they accidently killed her. I find it sad.. if they did.. why not just own up?? :S She must have died a few hours in advance before 10pm when Kate claimed she was missing. I think they would have needed time to do what they could with the body and that! Or maybe they were hoping for someone to abduct her while she was already dead? |

True. But I remember in the UK.. someone accidently dropped a TV downstairs and killed their child. I don't think they went to jail? If they owned up about the accidental death.. they could have been let off.

I think people should also remember that had they been found guilty they would go to prison and their other children would have their parents snatched away from them. So maybe its for the best the way its turned out. I think the guilt alone would be torture enough without being in a prison cell. |

You don't go to jail for accidental death. Well, not here anyway. Yep it'd go to court and all that crap but if it was truly accidental, they'd not face jail.

Four Year Old Girl Killed By TV
2:44pm UK, Monday December 29, 2008 A four-year-old girl died after her father dropped a television on her head causing "a catastrophic brain injury", an inquest has heard. Emily died in hospital the day after the tragic accident The accident happened on Christmas Eve at the family's home in Wrexham as he was carrying the "heavy, deep, bulky" widescreen downstairs. Robert Hughes was planning to install the old TV in the children's play area, having just bought a new one. Unbeknown to Mr Hughes, his daughter Emily was lying on her stomach at the foot of the stairs as he made his way down. In a report police said the design engineer accidentally bumped into her, dropping the TV and pinning her head down. It said: "Mr Hughes stubbed his foot on the child and fell forward with the large television unit. "He completely lost balance, fell and tried to push the TV away from the child realising she was there but it landed on her head." This will always be a difficult time in the future with every Christmas. It is every parent's worst nightmare for their child's funeral to take place before their own. Coroner at Emily Hughes inquest Mr Hughes immediately removed the television and carried Emily into the kitchen where his wife Louise, a youth co-ordinator, phoned for an ambulance. The child was rushed to Wrexham Maelor Hospital and transferred to Liverpool's Alder Hey Hospital later that evening suffering from a lack of blood and oxygen to the brain. Consultant Dr Jane Ratcliffe said her head was fractured in the accident. She was certified dead at 10.10pm on Christmas Day. Coroner Andre Rebello recorded a verdict of accidental death, saying: "I hope the family can recover from this tragedy and celebrate the joy of Emily's life. "Emily will not have suffered and not have known about this injury." Source: http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-...00812415195254 It doesn't say that the dad went to jail. A bloody awful accident though. Last edited by Beastie; 13-05-2011 at 12:22 AM. |

but you do for manslaughter and there's a very thin line sometimes. It comes down to judgement. If they accidentally overdosed her then that could easily be classed as manslaughter.

well that could also be why they felt the need to lie. I mean, who'd believe 2 doctors would give the wrong dosage to a child?
but however she died they could have just panicked and then got stuck with their story. |

Maddie could have found the sleeping tablets or whatever medication and took them herself. She could have easily accessed them from a table or something.
I have heard that Kate had trouble with the kids. Like she could have had Post Natal Depression.. A comment I found on facebook... I think that Kate did it by accident.. Maddie was playing up and she overdid the sedative, came home and discovered Maddie wasn't breathing, freaked out and came up with some 'our daughter was abducted' plan. We also know that Kate wasn't coping with looking after her kids, and wanted someone else to take guardianship of Maddie temporarily so she could look after the kids.. Kate was NOT in a particularly good state of mind, and I reckon she possibly had PND.. if anything, these two are negligent.. leaving your sleeping children alone in an unsecured apartment in a foreign country? if it had been a working class woman, she would be in jail right now, the classist attitude is clear and its ****ing disgusting.. Arrest the pair of em! Source: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gi...3363012&v=wall |

It's interesting because its really only likely that one of them would have done it. I guess the other would be guilty of aiding and abetting or such. If thats the case then its intriguing to think how their relationship works. One of them has a huge hold over the other. But at this stage they must feel like if one went down then so would the other. Maybe its the children thats keeping them strong?

but if one of them did it how does the other one not feel anger, hatred and resentment towards them? How can they continue being together? I think it could only work if it really was a big accident and therefore there's no great blame there. |
