The father of James Bulger has told a parole board in Britain about the daily nightmare of life since the toddler was murdered by two boys in 1993.
Ralph Bulger made the comment in a victim's statement delivered to a hearing in Leeds Crown Court into whether one of the killers should be released on parole for an offence committed after his release.
Jon Venables and Robert Thompson and abducted two-year-old James from a shopping centre in Merseyside in 1993, and walked the boy to a railway line where they tortured and killed him.
Venables and Thompson were both aged 10 at the time of the murder and served eight years in prison for the murder before being freed and issued with secret new identities.
But Venables was jailed for two years last July after pleading guilty to downloading and distributing indecent images of children.
Solicitor Robin Makin, speaking on Mr Bulger 's behalf, told the court in a video link authorities like to be liberal and don't really want to see Jon Venables for the person that he actually is.
The parole board now has 10 days to consider its decision.
