I didnt know that. My knowledge of politics is slim to none. In that case I take it the lib dems sold out about the uni fees? Since that was (or I believe it was) their main selling point for the vote?

On topic, they will probably sell out again and just bow down to what the tories want. Spineless bastards.

This is not the solution at all. It will make things 100x worse. Why the **** cant someone who actually has brains be in power?

Maybe if more people took more of an interest in politics instead of moaning about the government, things would be different. Politics affects every part of everyone's life and yet so many people say "politics doesn't interest me". Most people couldn't even name their MP let alone their local councillor, and yet they work for you.

is true. What you local council is doing will affect you much more than big govt. Your local planning office will have a lot more impact in your life in 2011 than any inner city looting.

I do not need to have knowledge of politics to know that this is a really stupid idea that will do more harm than good. I would think that was just common sense. Apparently not.

I'm not saying that you need to have knowledge of politics. If you had sent one tenth of the words you've written on here to your MP, who represents you in parliament, maybe he or she would have a better and more balanced view of with public opinion. At the moment, the ones who's views are being heard are the ones who support the very idea that you're saying is stupid.

MPs are not a different species. They work for you, whether or not you voted for them. The only way they will know how their constituents are thinking is if you let them know.

The Tory government spent 18 years creating high unemployment..Which resulted in high rates of robbery and anti social beahvour and dirty hospitals.....

The blame game is foolish.......All political parties over decades are responsible for the social decay......

The benefits argument is a tricky one as one can see both sides of the debate.

However my logic is if they thieve while on benefits then taking benefits away won't change anything as they are theiving anyhow......

I do wish as part of punishment they were made to do community work to pay off the cost of their actions as well as the punishment served. We are still madly too soft on criminal activities.

Binge drinking and drug taking yobs should be made to pay full medical costs if they are arrested for damage and harm to others. They should also be made to pay full cost of police attendance/court appearances & any ambualnce crews that have to wast time with such out of their mind idiots....

That is exactly right Vicky,as a Student I was almost stalked as were all other Students by Lib Dem candidates promising that we could trust them and that they would 'never in any circumstances' all their words, support cuts being made in the first year of Parliament or support the raising of tuition fees.

It was my first ever vote in an election and for my sins I trusted them,I never will again.
Yes though, the only way the Conservatives can govern and can get policies passed in Parliament is with the Lib Dems 57 votes, the only other allies to the Conservatives are the D.U.P. in Northern Ireland but they only have 8 MPs,so they cannot help the Conservatives.

Every party, except the Conservatives, that stood in the election was against cuts in the first year while the recovery was weak and also any rise in tuition fees either.
Only the Lib Dems supported opposite policies once they got the votes trusted to them and the seats they won from those votes.

I just hope the Lib Dems force the Govt to throw out knee jerk policies that are very badly presented, badly thought out and plain wrong.
