I think they were taking the piss out of the fact that she likes to make everything about her, when she made the comment "OH, DID YOU GET THE ONE OF ME PLAYING BASEBALL!?". That's my guess.

That is correct.

It was the "oh, forget about you what about me" aspect.

What the others where doing was standard "common enemy" early group psychology where a new group look for communality to bond. Often a group will select a weak member like her to ridicule 1. to find common ground and 2 because there will be no threat associated.

no it had nothing to do with her wanting it to be about her, they were laughing because she was being so corny, but they were all trying to pretend that they didn't know Darryn was on a task.
