That said, apparently Endemol are the company been given the task to make some of these new programs. Basically they are trying to make it more like Channel 4. Even if those pilots turned out to be rubbish and in the style of oldskool C5, it's not impossible they might bring in a new "make your own Ultimate Fighting Machine" show, and a person from their past might spring to mind as ideal.

Paul seems happy to be away from the limelight, so he is unlikely to have been badgering Brian to put in a word for him as James' replacement for smtv, but that doesn't mean he couldn't be tempted to do something lower profile. Well, that's what I'm hoping. If it's the whole showbiz world he's disillusioned with he can still do the kind of thing C4 puts on at the same time as Eastenders about repairing classic cars/PI buses.
