Default Teenage model, 16, killed herself under train 'after boy cancelled their cinema date'

'Devastating loss': Gabrielle Joseph dreamed
of a career as a fashion model and had begun putting together a portfolio

Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...#ixzz1h9jMM8MS

"Gabrielle was described as a ‘bubbly’ and ‘outgoing’ teenager with a busy life attending college and holding two part-time jobs, including one at the popular Hollister fashion store.
She had ambitions of being a top model, and on her own website wrote: ‘In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different.’
Her father Terry described her as being ‘groggy and pale’ on the day of her death near her home in Briton Ferry, South Wales.
An inquest heard that she had been left ‘distressed’ by the text at 8.15pm last Easter Monday cancelling the date and that 75 minutes later she died from multiple injuries after she was hit by the train near her home."

This was in April
what a Utter Waste.

Education is needed.

Read this earlier, so sad. Such a waste of life and I suspect there was more going on to lead her to do this other than just the cancelling of a date, that was probably a catalyst. More needs to be done to prevent teenage suicides.

Drastic reason if you ask me, surely there is a hidden reason? This is just a silly title to draw attention to the news story

I read yesterday that she tended to deal with her problems on her own and in her own way...I would guess there is more to this story and her reasons, but it's very sad that she couldn't share her feelings with someone who could perhaps have helped her...nobody should feel that isolated

Yeah it's so sad. People are there for kids to speak to! They are just scared to go do it

Tragic for her parents: and what a hell of a thing for the guy who cancelled the date to 'live with'.

Chucking yourself under a train for that reason - something isn't quite right here, doesn't add up....... we all know teen years can be a terrible time but it's well OTT a reaction / action to take for a date being called off.

What a horrible waste. Why would anyone cancel a date with her?

That so sad. She was so pretty too. I agree with others too in that there must have been something else other then the cancellation of the date that caused her to throw herself under a train.

I actually feel worse for the guy who cancelled the date.
He's going to have to live with this for the rest of his life, and most likely will never get over it. Alot of people in his hometown probably will label him a "killer" or something.

The girl actually sounds so selfish. She could have most guys (I would). She must have been quite unstable and depressed prior to this. Nobody in their normal mind kills themselves for this reason alone.

This would have been a catalyst. A "final straw" to something I would say.

Another disgustingly worded article from the Daily Mail with absolutely no regard for the grief and thoughts of the boy or her family. Shameful.

What is it precisely that you find so disgustingly worded about the article and why do you feel it is shameful.

In what other manner do you suggest that it should have been reported.

What do you think is wrong with it and why do you feel there is no regard for the grief and thoughts of those affected?

I was thinking this.

Anyway its ashame for both the girl who clearly must have had something else going on in her life for this to have happened, and the boyfriend will probably never get over this, and especially now that The DailyMail have made it look like its his fault.

A real shame, but I feel more sorry for the boy who will have to live with the supposed guilt of this for the rest of his life, and in some ways I'm afraid it is selfish. But very sad nonetheless and things need to be done to try and prevent things like this happening, she was gorgeous as well.

I happen to agree pretty much with you on this one. It's a shi*tty thing to be left with for the lad in question.

It's typical of the DM to be honest. Their reporting style leaves a lot to be desired.

I'm pretty sure there's more to this story than the cancellation of a date. The girl must have had some deeper issues and this was possibly just the straw that broke the camel's back. There's a lot of pressure on models, especially at such a young age, so perhaps that was causing her stress.

But, since it's a half-arsed article, with little or no proper information, we really can't speculate further.

I personally object to those saying she was selfish though. Suicide is hardly selfish. A bit of understanding on the subject wouldn't go amiss here.

Suicide is selfish. It is also an extremely difficult choice to make, but that does not make it any less a selfish act.

This young tragic girl for example: gave no thought or understanding to the lifetime of pain, suffering and devastating loss she has now placed upon her family - never mind on the shoulders of an innocent young lad.

The title of it, clearly, for suggesting that it's the boy's fault that she's dead. I'd have thought that was obvious.
