Well you must have seen him asking the twins and georgia to nominate him and them along with others discussing what sort of reasons they can give for nominating..I can easily assume from this that he would have asked others to nominate him as well, hence the big thank you when they were announced.

They only gave the denise situation as a reason because you can't say I nominate so and so because they want to leave.
