I do think you would have to be a certain type of person to really detach yourself - and I totally get the comment about 'losing a bit of your soul'. but again: if it was legalised: that stigma would eventually die out.
Look at how 'promiscious' people are these days compared to even as little as 20/30 years ago (well you can't since you are so young) -but sleeping around and having god knows how many sexual partners before settling down is regarded as 'acceptable' these days by many. I'm sure if it was legalised, controlled - that perceptions would eventually differ and it be regarded as less sleazy that it is currently.
