Yes, I think it's part of her ploy.
By trying to convince Julian that the crowd could have been shouting his name, she's trying to ensure that hell be worried too and will want to talk through the reasons why with her.
This will give her the opportunity to voice her astonishment as to why they might not like her and to counter any negative views by rewriting history for the benefit of the viewing public.
If she didn't manage to enlist Julian into her little group, she wouldn't have the chance to try to influence the public out loud, as there'd be no-one to use as a sounding board for her thoughts, which shed have to keep to herself or tell BB in the DR.
I'm confounded as to why Julian should continue to spare her feelings and act like a willing slave.
