First off he isnt out to kill the enemy, his job is to defend his own troops.
If that means killing the enemy to achieve his mission thats the enemy's problem.
Apaches go out in pairs as standard operating procedure, they normally support heliborne operations but when precise application of heavy amounts of firepower are need they will be tasked to support close air support of ground operations.
As for losing an Apache, we (UK) havent lost one yet.. anywhere.
