Quite right.

I see the usual posh-bashing is alive and well. I went to Cambridge, I am not a posho, I'm a working class girl from east London. Imagining that everyone at Oxford or Cambridge is privileged and therefore a ligitimate target for scorn is sooooooo fifty years ago.

He'll be seen as a hero in prison

Doubt he'll serve alot of it, they'll let him out soon afterwards..he won't kick up much of a fuss

Ridiculous sentence though

The words... "Setting a precedent" come to mind in this case. Since it was a live TV sporting event being broadcast live around the world and with millions of people betting on the result, it is far to say the PTB were not amused to have this joker stick his oar in ( no pun intended) . So it was not a shock to see him get a custodial sentence for his efforts.

Posh bashing?
He swam in front of a boat and recieved a prison sentence..
How is that proportional?
Nobody can be blamed for associating this with cases of burglary, assault, domestic violence, dangerous driving that recieve non custodial sentences...
So you are left with the option that it is as has been said it is another example of 'know your place'?
The lines of this democracy are getting too blurry, you can't
protest outside parliament, demonstrators are 'kettled' and those who act to highlight their beliefs jailed.
Meanwhile those within the walls of power behave how they like whilst creaming as much money as they can exploiting their position.

UK and European sentences in general don't make much sense to me. They always seem a bit disproportionate when you put them into context. You see someone put in jail for making an off comment on twitter, or a protest like this, but actual violent criminals get a slap on the wrist sometimes.

I wish i was religious because it would be nice to think that somewhere in the universe there is real justice.
