I reckon if you swim in waters where there are likely to be sharks, you take your chances. You're in their element. Massive revenge killings of random sharks simply shows what a dispicable species humans are generally.

if the guy was swimming through a shoal of fish and it was well publicised that the area is known for sharks then you do take you chances, depends how well known this was of course. Is this a tourist area?
