Default Killer bees sting Texas farmer to death... [MERGED]

A hive of 40,000 Africanised honey bees, known as "killer bees", have killed a Central Texas man and hurt a woman who came to his aid.

The Waco Tribune-Herald reported that Larry Goodwin was attacked as he drove a tractor on a neighbour's land in Moody, about 26 miles (41km) south of Waco.

The 62-year-old ran to a house about 50 yards (46 metres) away and tried to use a garden hose to ward off the swarm, according to McLennan County Chief Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Cawthon.

A woman came out to help and was also stung. Mr Goodwin was pronounced dead at the scene.

"If anybody has any brush or anything on their lands please clear it because they don't want to go through this. Nobody needs to go through this,' Mr Goodwin's tearful daughter Tanya told KCEN-TV.

Allen Miller, owner of Bee Be Gone, who later destroyed the hive, said the farmer apparently hit a pile of wood that housed a hive.

He estimated it contained about 40,000 Africanised bees.

"You can't believe how bad they are. They make me want to get out of this business," Mr Miller said.

"They can get up under your clothes where no other insect can go. In a hive of ordinary European bees, about 10% will attack if the hive is threatened, but with African bees, all of them attack you."

African bees were taken to Brazil in the 1950s. Some escaped and cross bred with European bees, first in Latin America and then the southern United States.

Bees are bullies, they're only tough when they all get together. If a bee has a problem with you why doesn't it take you on 1 on 1?

Bees are pussies like that.

shame on you. he probably went back to his hive and told all the other bee's "humans are pussies".

you ruined it for all of us!

you could have reached out to the lone bee, said "we can work together, in harmony". Instead you caved. and now they think we are all weak.

..well, I say he won because he stung me, but I don't think he made it home..he landed in the palm of my hand and I just felt a tickle, so went to scratch it, that's when I realised and he stung me but I think I accidently squashed him a bit....our secret is safe, there's still the hope that one day we will all beeeeeeeeeeeeee together....

But if it was a radioactive bee, like the radioactive spider that bit spiderman, then you could be a superhero with bee powers!

Yup I was watching. the satellite delay was annoying as hell.

I thought it was interesting they said that you shouldn't jump into water, the bee's will just wait for you. They said you should just run as fast as you can for 1/2 a mile, apparently bees give up after 1/2 a mile.

Based on the picture of the guy, it's no surprise he wasn't able to out run them...

You have to go slow on rubbish pilled up.

The Queen Bee has a Army that will Die for her

"A man was killed after being stung by killer Africanized bees
in Texas on Saturday.
Relatives of victim Larry Goodwin said that his entire body
was covered in bee stings, and that there wasn't
one inch of skin that hadn't been stung.
The fatal accident happened when Mr Goodwin
was helping a neighbor by consolidating a pile of dry brush
using a tractor on their property in Moody, Texas."

You didn't notice how it took a few seconds for the daughter to answer Piers' questions? I was talking about the delay between piers in NY and the woman in Texas, not the delay between CNN in America and CNN in the UK.

Yes.

CNN UK does not have Live Piers (it also has fillers like golf?)
so I watch on that site to get the better CNN America Live broadcast
