Reality Central Steps Closer
Fledgling Cable Network Nabs Overseas Programs

Reality Central just got a little more real.

The start-up network has acquired a quartet of overseas reality shows and secured a distribution agreement with eighth-ranked cable operator Mediacom...

...Though foreign acquisitions comprise only a quarter of Reality Central's programming strategy, the overseas dealings will play a key role within the network. Not only is Reality Central seeking original content, it is also in the market for foreign editions of popular U.S. reality shows, such as the Brazilian edition of "Temptation Island" or the U.K. version of "Big Brother." Though sources said no deals have yet been signed, the network is contemplating several franchises.

"The perfect scenario is a new season of something like 'Big Brother' is on and Reality Central has 'Big Brother' from 20 other countries," the source said.
