I see no problem then, or why there should be any problems, doing so vice versa either.

Obviously you're entitled to take that view but even older women who would do as you suggest (and I agree there are some) would not appreciate being called the same by a young lad - and for that matter he shouldn't be calling any women he doesn't know intimately 'pet' or 'sweetheart' imo. But context is all - we already knew he was a sexist so I guess I just took it as even more proof. I just hope he wasn't relying on any older women to vote for him.

How then is not also sexist for Women to be like that towards men that they don't know.
If I took offence at the age of 21 and ven when I was much younger, at the older Women who have used such terms to me, I would likely be offended everytime I went to my local shop, store or even a lot of the time when I was at Uni too.

How can it be sexist for Sam to use the terms to a Woman he hasn't met but it not be the case if a Woman does so to a Man.
If you think they don't, I can tell you they do but I can't see a reason for any offence to be taken.

Were he calling her names or swearing at her, that would be a different issue altogether.
