That is ironic (the last line), been unsure for the past few weeks about where Rooney played in 2011/12 when Welbeck went on that ridiculous baron run and Rooney scored a ton of goals... during that baron run I can't recall whether Rooney played as a number 10 or the main striker. Maybe he did both as Welbeck was so wank.

Definitely began that campaign as a number 10 and did well.

Edit: As I say, last season Rooney's touch was dire at times. Passing even worse. He's not like that when in form. Fergie being a dick with him didn't help.

He's played number 10 for the past few seasons and contributes with assists- feeding Van Persie. The goal against Villa when he played a perfect pass into RVP? Kagawa couldn't do that
