You're still only one country, so the fact it is legal in the US to still fire people for being gay is an issue. I know UK/Europe has issues with civil rights as well. That's why I gave the example of our rights being infringed.
None of us have this liberty thing worked out for ourselves, so we're (US and UK) asking others to do what we say, and not what we do.
Some places in the US sound like amazing places to live. I love the complete dominance of liberals in California. Vermont with Bernie Sanders as a political leader would be another of my kind of places. However, some states are as backward and insular as any middle eastern country.
