It's lost ratings in the UK, and barely kept up with Merlin in America, that's not exactly a ratings giant.

Steven Moffat with his poor casting and bad/childish stories aren't helping it either imo.

To be fair, America's an absolutely enormous country (especially in comparison to the UK), so its figures don't reflect what we get. And also there's been a general decline in viewership all over terrestrial television due to changing trends in catch-up, multichannels and all that.

It's the way our media has brainwashed people into thinking that it's a ratings giant in America for us though when Merlin and Downton Abbey (especially Downton Abbey) rate higher in America yet our media doesn't/didn't push for them at all.

Yes in my opinion which is what the OP asked, no? But if you want to go the 'viewers' route did the last series not take a drop in ratings from the one before it?
