No, her thing hasn't even arrived yet, it was just because I had nothing better to do.

Hi Ammi! Well, the sleepiness effect of being sick hasn't worn off yet, so I am falling asleep and waking up at such random times, when I am awake I just feel like a zombie so I just do random stuff to keep myself occupied while resting. I am not able to concentrate on reading or anything practical like that. It's nice to be able to fall asleep quite easily though!

I have a lot of fond memories of making crafts and other little things when I was in primary school and the early years of secondary school, those were some of the best moments I had. These days nobody seems to have time any more, I have noticed even with my nieces and nephews, everything is a lot more focused on the benefits of what they do rather than just doing things for nothing but fun.

...awww, yeah that's the problem when your sleeping pattern is messed up, it's funny how that happens so easily yet it's so hard to get it back again/cruel life...does reading not make you feel tired..?...I can often only read a few pages of a book before my face becomes one of the pages.....

..yeah, I know what you mean about school, things are so much more structured now..it is a shame I agree, we used to do a lot more fun stuff..it's not the fault of the schools though, it's how OFSTED is set up and things that have to be met there...the focus of that is ever changing ...oh, btw we found an old 'Punishment Book' at school recently from 1913 onwards..it was really fascinating/scary/funny..someone got 4 lashes (the cane I presume..) for eating a turnip.....

Reading doesn't make me tired at all, I have to but a lot of concentration into it, I guess I'm weird. I have never in my life fell asleep while reading although I did have some weird moments where I block out all sound and am so engulfed that I am not even slightly aware of my surroundings. I remember when I read the deathly hallows my mother was standing next to me and shouting my name and I was just reading away in my own world without noticing and she had to shake me to make me realise she was there.

I guess the structure is just to make the best out of the kids time but it's a shame that kids these days would get to have the same experiences that I have, I guess it ties in with the fact that the economy was booming when I was a kid and we had "time" to relax but now everyone has to be so high strung.

That punishment book sounds awesome! I wonder if the turnip was raw? My mother used to tell me that if she was hit for something in school and went home and complained to her parents, they would hit her too for getting in trouble in school. Parents and teachers were a tough crowd back then!

...aww, that sounds a bit Narnia-like, getting so absorbed in your book or like Never-ending Story and Princess Bride...when I was younger, I often imagined myself as part of the books that I read...

..I reckon it was a raw turnip, I think it was probably less to do with eating the turnip and more that the child stole it..we have fields all around the school and probably back in the day, they were maybe crop/vegetable fields, so he probably hopped over the fence and stole a turnip from the farmer.....that punishment was more than someone got for smoking but I guess smoking wasn't thought to be so harmful back in 1913...

..yeah, I think that often happened when a child would get into trouble at school and then go home and their parent would say WHAT DID YOU DO..!!!!...and punish them a second time.....
