Libby wasn't the most exciting character, but it will be nice to see her briefly back just for Denise's sake really, glad that Denise is in her own storyline and the show are remembering about her family.

I'm glad EE are showing more places to film outside the square as there is life outside it too.

DTC is only briefly returning Libby to keep that pesky "ethnic quota" which prevents him from getting rid of all those non white characters he's coerced to write for and having his whitewashed eastend Stacey/ Kat/ Ronnie/ Roxie/Sharon fest

But DTC must not worry: like returning Bushra; axed AJ, Sam and Ava, plot device lesbian Tosh (a mere pawn to get Tina with Sonia), Shabnnam's retaurant online date guy and now the forgotten Wayne Ladlow (Nancy's ex-fiance) are temporary solutions to DTC's 2013/ 2014 quota issue. All gone by 2015 where he'll have a new batch of black, Asian, mixed and other non white characters he can ignore and give weak storylines to whilst Lacey Turner is on holiday.

As for Libby being boring, what do you expect, she's not blond nor a Slater, so she was never going to be a writer's favourite. Never thought I'd agree with Lenny Henry but non white characters over the years are constantly ignored and unserved by white writers: Dexter, Jordan, Tamwar, Fatboy, Becca, Denise, Shabnam (both versions), Patrick, Syd, Tosh to name some.

She's not fulfilling any "quota". She's back briefly because her mother is still in the show.

If anything she's part of the "plan" to revert the show to pre-Kirkwood. IIRC he axed Libby back in 2010.

There's been brief appearances of family members for a few characters since DTC took over so this is nothing new.

I'd hardly call the Masood's underserved and up until 2 years ago Denise had quite a hefty bank of story lines.
