and at the end of the day I think it probably helps me to sleep at night if I can try and (illogically) find some logic in why something has or hasn't happened. I'd rather believe that there was a positive outcome from being assaulted last year, for example, than just accept that it was random and rubbish and that's just what my life is. I mean after that happened I felt compelled to make changes in my life and be adventurous and do scarier things in order to push myself out of my comfort zone to be happier and not be afraid. Would I have signed up to do a two week summer course in Russia or be motivated to lose weight without that happening? Possibly; but I know that because of that incident I wanted to make changes and that's why I made those decisions. So yes, I believe everything happens and then you give it a reason... that makes more sense I think.
