Nothing at all like same old England. We are going into this tournament with 90% of the country backing us to take youth with nothing to lose.

Deserved at least a draw, entertaining throughout with loads of positives to take from the game. Sterling, Sturridge, Henderson and Welbeck were great.. defence was pretty strong except for Baines being isolated all game. Bit more clinical finishing and we could have had 3 or 4. Take out Rooney for Barkley against Uruguay.. Bring on the remaining games..

Good and exciting game ending in a Italy win. England had many chances, but the shots were well of the target, unlike Italy who had better finishing although fewer shots.

So now after 1st round Costa Rica leads the group. Crazy, isn´t it

England will next face an annoyed and potentially dangerous but a little crippled Uruguay, while Italy will face the surprise winners Costa Rica.

thing is theres no positive though at this stage, this is the world cup not a friendly. they need to be better. and are not
same old thing different team, no one can hit a target. we were better and lost cause cant score unless were standing by the goal

Have you ever seen us at previous tournaments? This is possibly one of the best passing sides are have had in years.. The tempo of our play compared to previous years has improved massively.. No one can hit a target? 5 shots on target, 2 of which produced great saves from Sirigu.

It was a good performance, obviously not a good result but the signs are promising. I'm confident we will beat Uruguay, Suarez didn't even come off the bench when they needed a goal meaning he is miles from fitness and they look very ordinary without him. Need to hope Italy beat Costa Rica and then go into a showdown with them in the final game and hope they can't produce the same performance they did earlier today, we are a much better team on paper.

But yeah, going forward we look very good. Our subs didn't offer enough when they came on tonight though.
