I've visited hospital in the past when I've been told to stay in overnight for observation or to see out a course of meds (on a drip or whatever) and then be released in the morning.
So keeping the house up to date that she'll be gone overnight isn't out of the question.
No one's said her illness will be over either. Sam left the house to go to hospital and returned but wasn't "cured"?

Sam had been obviously unwell hadnt she though so a hospital visit was believable this is from no where and no one is concerned just strange that's all.
