I agree the manipulation has gone overboard this year. Way too much outside influence.

Classic example being the 3 ex HMs 'advising' the power alliance about Pav and Zoe. It completely influenced the whole house making them all suspicious of them both and ruining any chance of natural evolution as HMs before they even got going! The effects of it are still felt to this day in the house.

I disagree this should be the last civilian series. It's still a fantastic and unique show for people watching and interaction. But i think a little less interference and a bit more time for things to breathe and develop naturally is essential for the show to do what it does best.
