“Dozens of vulnerable children are going missing from care in Haringey putting them at risk of sexual exploitation and gangs” - Ham and High, June 2012
And will we ever see the publication of key documents, reduced caseloads for social workers and an end to the manic and destructive tick box culture that removes personal responsibility and lets critical faculties and instincts wither?
Sadly, the Council has clearly learned nothing. It came to light in late 2013 that yet another child has been failed by social services.
Fortunately, ‘Child T’ is alive – no thanks to Haringey Council. It was reported by the Haringey Independent that Child T, now aged six, had been repeatedly admitted to hospital with suspicious injuries. Doctors informed the Council that this was due to being beaten at home, yet neither the child nor his siblings were removed from their parents’ ‘care’.
Will she keep highlighting issues like this that show the failings of reducing staff and facilities in Haringey? (and no doubt across the country) Let's hope so...
