While I agree with the above comments that one person does not represent a whole group of people. However, the most ignorant of bigots will see Perez's behaviour and claim that all gay people are like that and unfortunately people who have never met an openly gay person in real life will believe this and spread homophobia.
What he is doing is dangerous, and he needs to realise that he could damage a community.
