So this is the 2nd natural spring to be bought and closed by coca cola? If they bought one and it was too much for them then you have to ask why they bought another.

As far as I know, they still operate the other one (the brand "Schweppes Abbey Well", Coca Cola owns Schweppes UK) unless I'm confused and these are actually the same brand / spring... I don't think it can be though, as abbey well was part of Coca Cola's 2012 Olympics sponsorship and it says that the other one was closed before that.

So my theories were that they either shut this one because of lack of demand, or deliberately to boost the Abbey Well brand, however it seems that Schweppes / cola has actually owned Malvern for over 100 years, it wasn't a recent purchase. So, I think it may be as simple as them having been pushed out of the market by the "usual" brands with bigger marketing, such as evian and volvic.
