Yes. Much like owning a vintage car - being a Jew is rewarding, but expensive. You must be frugal and save a large portion of your money, as you just never know when it will be needed. For escaping.

I'm actually already done, which makes the prospect of conversion far less terrifying!

In my teens, I was embarrassed about being "different" and actually decided at one point that as an adult I'd just "pretend to be Jewish" to explain why I was circumcised. I am actually serious. I had forgotten about that plan, and have only just realized how hilarious it was .

My other plan was to "move to America". Ha!
