Seriously? I don't think she needs to PRETEND to be afraid of the house bully who hates her, stabs her in the back at every opportunity, and has promised to make her life hell until he gets her out.

The reason she likes someone like Nick and hates someone like Marc is probably because Nick is meek and submissive, very like the men she meets in her line of work and Marc isn't.
