If I call my hetero mate a "******" during some banter then it isn't anyone's business, including gay people. Why are people queuing up to be offended? |

Marc is guilty of Homophobia now then? Marc would be the first person to watch Danny & Christen get it on, and not care, also ask Christen in the morning how was it last night with Daddy Danny?

Excluding the fact that the joke in your example sounds like a put-down on all gay people, it would be homophobic regardless of whether or not this was your intent. Your idea of homophobia is, to me, outdated, gross and inappropriate to say on a public forum. Some words are offensive, this is one of those words.

I see gay people calling each other such words. Are they homophobic and unacceptable when gay people use them? |

The fact that you disagree is so ****ing gross. Out of interest if we swapped out the homophobic slur for the N word, would you defend it if others called it a racist tweet?

Let me ask you this: If a black rapper releases a record with the N word in it. Why shouldn't I, as a white person, sing it? Do you get to tell me what songs I can sing now? |

Racism and homophobia is never okay, to use racist or homophobic slurs is never okay. It is a disgrace that you disagree and you are willing to publicly share it on a forum.

The fact you want to "get my ban" speaks volumes though. I think Emily's ejection was a disgrace. As do many people. I hate the way people queue up to take offence at the slightest thing. I don't view Marc's tweet as homophobic. I don't view danny's that way either. If you think that I should be banned for that then quite frankly I think you are getting hysterical. Just put me on ignore if you don't want to read my posts. If it makes it easier for you then I will ignore you. |

One of my gay friends is very adamant that usage of homophobic slur is best thing ever - I'm from regressive country, lots of homophobes here, and they actually beat people up, full on assaults in public when they know the person is gay, every gay pride ended in blood except for last one, where they actually didn't update anyone there'd be a gay pride walk, on wendsday in 11 am when all the HP were at work >< Anyway, my friend tells me when someone uses slur he knows to be careful in front of that person he'd rather be "slured" at, then be beaten up. In normal countries that argument is pretty much removed, but there you have it, lots of it depends on lots of it. It's way more important for people to be acceptant of the fact that not everyone is like them, then to use pre-approved nouns in given circumstances. Like how you don't use slur but are very judgy of him for having different opinion to yours ![]() As far as I'm concerned, I'm pretty sure that in 50 years time we'll have completely different set of forbidden words while these will be back in regular usage but it is a good idea to stay away from them for now. After all blacks have been first enslaved then discriminated against for way too long (someplaces even today), I don't think it's that much of a problem for whites to give them the right to discriminate by usage of that word (we can use it, but you can't) for a while. Just as long as we don't get to feel like equals again. One more time, whites killed, raped, enslaved, burned, tortured, and discriminated against black, and blacks are asking whites not to use one word. And same logic applies to gays, feminists, atheists, and whoever else is being discriminated against. Come on. Anyone can do it. |
