Default Just how messed up is this!

One 19 year old boy has seen his life destroyed after meeting a girl online and having sex with her, only to find out that she was underage.

Zach Anderson spent 90 days in jail and is now on two sex offenders registers in separate states after meeting the girl on app Hot or Not, with the girl claiming to be 17, but in reality only being 14.

In what has been deemed a deliberately harsh sentence, designed to make an example of him, the teenager from Indiana even saw the mother of the girl and the girl herself come forward to claim that she misled him and he believed her to be of age.

After the sentencing, Anderson now cannot live at home because his brother is 15, has lost all the work he did towards his computer science degree and has to be on a sex offenders register for the next 25 years.

Full Story: http://www.unilad.co.uk/articles/tee...-sex-offender/

The judge is a total prick! the girl lied about her age, she and her family all wanted the charges dropped yet the judge decided on such a harsh sentence just to make an example? disgusting.

I read about this earlier, absolutely shocking case and the verdict is beyond ridiculous, didn't the judge say something about how she/he hated today's technological way of people hooking up? Incredibly bias ruling by an idiotic judge, I hope they get sacked and this guy rightfully gets his life back because as it is now, it's completely ruined because of a lying little brats desire to feel grown up.

Yeah the judge did, this poor guy is literally being used as a sacrifice for an idiot judge to show his distain for what the two of them did.

I imagine - and I hope - lawyers will be climbing over each other to handle his appeal because it will be high-profile and I hope damaging for the original judge.

Shouldn't the girl's Mother get into trouble for deceiving him? It's like a form of grooming.

it was not this guys fault, he did not force her too lie about her age, this proves that females are the most manipulative and deceptive of all, how many under age girls, lied to there teeth about there age to rock stars, and the police in this country using taxpayers money too try and jail old celebrities, for tapping a womans bottom, kangaroo court style justice, thats where the problem is hitting this guy, he should sue every penny from the judge, and the girl should be banned from the internet, for ten years,

It's a dodgy one isn't it.

Girls lie about their age all the time. What's a guy supposed to do? ID them? If she looks a certain age, then he will obviously take it at face value that she is a certain age. I don't think he should be on any register as he didn't willingly go and have sex with an underage girl. He had sex with a girl who claimed to be of age. So that ought to have been taken into account.

Since this has now made international news, I hope the guy gets some justice from this, as he clearly didn't go out looking for a child to have sex with. The whole thing has been horribly mishandled in my view. I expect, as Liv says, there will be lawyers in there like a dog eating biscuits.

Its not messed up its ****ed up! Hook up apps should be held more accountable tbh, they should do more to stop kids lying about their age. Tindr does a bit by making you sign up with your facebook.

It's an awful ruling and one I imagine will be overturned quickly when it's appealed. The judge should be sacked for such a biased and overly harsh ruling. I hope the boy and his family also sue the judge for damages after it is overturned.

sorry, but 19 and 14 is a huge gap. it might not seem like a lot to most adults, 5 years between adults is not that much, but sorry, ****ing a 14 year old, not okay in my book.

i can't believe so many people in this forum are okay with 19 y/o men going after 14 y/o girls. men need to have the same policy as bartenders, if they are claiming to be anything under 30, and they look under 30, you check ID.

He was clearly online looking for young naive girls to ****. I don't feel the least bit sorry for him. Hopefully this will teach him and all other young guys that read the story to stop trying to **** young girls, and actually create real relationships with adult women their own age.

and for full disclosure I am in a relationship with a guy that is 5 years younger than me, but I am 33 and he is 28, and it's not the same thing at all. And i bet if this was a 19 y/o guy that ****ed a 14 year old boy a lot of you wouldn't have the same opinion.

I don't understand why you say that. how is it clear that he didn't seek out underage girls to sleep with? That doesn't seem clear to me at all.

Hmmm he broke the law and slept with someone that was below the age of consent, how many times must police and judges hear the 'i thought she was older' excuse?

He believed she was 17 as stated. I can't see anyone here claiming a 19 year old should be having sex with a 14 year old but the girl in question and her family stood in court and admitted the boy did NO wrong, she accepted responsability.

Obviously criminals are stupid. that doesn't mean that they shouldn't have to pay for their crimes.

If stupidity was a valid excuse, no one would ever have to face any justice.

The thing is here even the girl and her mum stepped forward to say she had lied and duped him.

I really don't understand where you're even coming from, he never willingly slept with her knowing she was 14, she claimed to be 17 years old and he believed her, her parents even stood up in court and said she had decieved him.

It's not as clear cut as you are trying to insinuate.

Alex he didn't actively go looking to have sex with a 14 year old, he believed she was 17, so he didn't know he was breaking the law nor did he actively seek out to break it. It's not stupidity, it was being deceived.

you don't know what he believed and it doesn't matter what he believed. most drunk drivers didn't believe that they were too intoxicated to drive safely. so what? so what if they thought they were fine to drive, that doesn't mean it's not a crime.

it's against the law to **** a 14 y/o child.

he ****ed a 14 y/o child.

Justice done.

And you don't know what he believed either. This is not a clear cut case, so no justice has been done and soon his case will be appealed and likely over turned.

All I can say is I am glad you are not a judge if you refuse to look at the bigger picture.

no they don't, they almost always claim they thought they were perfectly safe to drive, and that they didn't realize what their blood alcohol level was. so they truly believed they had a legal blood alcohol content, that means it shouldn't be a crime?
