“It was a tale of woe, it was a shambles,” groans Karren Brady in the boardroom. Ah, but what a shambles. For the negotiation task Lord Sugar sends his teams to buy nine items, partly in Kent, partly in France.

An inflatable boat, a Louis Philippe mirror, maroilles cheese, champagne flutes, 100 snails… It’s a task that will need careful planning, a feel for logistics and teamwork. Instead, starting in a wartime bunker, the teams embark on Operation Headless Chicken, in one case visiting the same shop four times, which may be a record for this task, while shouting Franglais at bemused shopkeepers (“Por favor… Best prix?”)

As if this knockabout humiliation weren’t enough, parts of both teams end up literally shovelling manure. Lord Sugar has endured enough bulls**t over the years: now, he takes his revenge.
