Default I'm watching American Idol series 11.

I watched the first week just in the vain that this attempt didn't drive me away like other series have done in the past, again this series makes X Factor UK look like it's modern to the very core with the song choices, and I know where The X Factor gets it's obsession with shouters from.

However there was some potential from some of the acts.

1. Colton Dixon - The wrong song for him, but he has a good voice that isn't too ordinary, but isn't gonna make your ears bleed either, he would do brilliantly with a Radiohead or The Fray song.

2. Heejun Han - The most polished vocal of the night, sadly his captivating vocal got sabotaged with a really boring song choice.

3. DeAndre Brackensick - It was okay for the first live show, it's not as amazing as Youtube hyped it up to be though.

4. Joshua Ledet - He did okay on the night, I can understand why he got lost in the crowd though as nothing especially stuck out in his performance to make people wanna vote for him.

5. Jessica Sanchez - I would say to have her barred for such a cliched song choice, but the others was so bad that I'll let her average take on a very overdone song choice pass.

6. Elise Testone - There's potential with her, I just don't know if the production will ever let her shine though.

7. Erika Van Pelt - A decent vocalist, but she's just very forgettable.

8. Jeremy Rosado - He was a bit poor, but he could've improved given some time compared to the one that I'm gonna place bottom for such a **** performance.

9. Jermaine Jones - He just was bad in every way, just not horrific like the ones below.

10. Philip Philips - I don't get how he won yet at all with his weird movements and bad vocals onstage, plus the song choice that should have him barred from the competition, his just lucky that personal preference didn't put him bottom of my rankings, and that the show really seemed to love him where it counts.

11. Skylar Laine - Painful! seriously even Country singers shout on this show, I don't like that genre of Music anyway but that's just low even for that genre.

12. Hollie Cavanagh - A shouty rendition, nothing good to say about this performance.

13. Shannon Magrane - She hit a couple of nice subtle notes towards the end of the song, but there was just so much wrong here, one she shouted through most of it, and two she picked a more cliched song choice than even Jessica did.

I'm gonna go and watch week 2 now, I hope that you enjoyed reading my comments.

Okay week 2 was worse than week 1, there was two good performances mixed in with one act who showed potential again but failed to live up to it, and a load of bad performances.

Anyway my rankings.

1. Joshua Ledet - He did sing a song that should have him barred from the show, but he was the only one that looked like he was performing and singing his song at the best of his ability on the night, so I've let him pass.

2. Colton Dixon - Again good vocal, but the wrong song, his more Indie Rock than Heavy Rock I feel.

3. Elise Testone - Again potential to be half decent, but either the production aren't giving her the right songs or she's not clicking into place on the show, or a mix of both, either way she definitely needs to step it up.

4. DeAndre Brackensick - A good voice but a really dull performance.

5. Heejun Han - The same as DeAndre.

6. Philip Philips - Now he suffered the opposite problem for me, a very energetic performance, but he lacks any vocal so far, an improvement on week 1 though.

7. Jessica Sanchez - She just seems to wail in this performance, it was more fun and less predictable than her week 1 performance which does make it more entertaining, but vocally really weak.

8. Erika Van Pelt - She just suffers from being too forgettable, a shame as her vocal isn't as offensive as a lot of the others in the competition, but the public aren't gonna vote for someone that people forget is even there, and tbh it will affect my opinion of the act also.

9. Skylar Laine - She's just gonna torture me through every performance, I just know she's going to.

10. Shannon Magrane - Still ****, but far less shouty than Hollie.

11. Hollie Cavanagh - Offensive to the very core with that shoutyness.

I'll checkout week 3 and hope for the best lol.

Week 3 was the most interesting week so far, and who would've thought that it would've been on a Billy Joel night.

Anyway my rankings of the week 3 performances.

1. Elise Testone - I felt that she finally clicked with this performance, and her and Joshua was the only ones to not lose control at all with their vocals on the night either.

2. Colton Dixon - He still has some pitching problems, but this is the closest attempt to this even more fossilized show to actually giving him Indie Rock so far in the arrangement.

3. Philip Philips - I really liked the intense bits at the beginning, I thought that he was gonna be interesting and not performing it MOR, but in the second half of the performance he turned it into a MOR Rock song to please the audience, despite that it was his best vocal so far.

4. Joshua Ledet - It suffered on being a bit dull, but he never lost control in his vocal, and he does seem to give it his all unlike some who I feel aren't even trying properly.

5. Skylar Laine - Her best performance at the lives, it's just not my style of Music at all so don't ever expect her to be too high on my rankings Skylar fans.

6. DeAndre Brackensick - He just failed to standout at all, he was lucky to have not come dead last with that kind of performance.

7. Erika Van Pelt - Tbf she did look more comfortable with this song choice, it's just that there really is something missing with her, I can't quite put my finger on it.

8. Heejun Han - He did still sing the song okay despite the awkward arrangement given to him.

9. Hollie Cavanagh - She just is so offensive and bland it's unreal with her performances.

10. Jessica Sanchez - Does she know what build up to the big moment means? It was just constant shouting throughout, no wonder the save had to be used on her later on in the series as the public probably wanted to teach her a lesson to be more exciting to watch and less loud for when the judges brought her back.

I bet you're right Hayden, it's just that I've always been drawn to this series so I'm getting it out of my system.

Elise was tragically slept on during season 11, she was amazing, Joshua, Jessica and DeAndre are easily the best vocalists of the season though.

I agree with you that Elise has got a good voice, but I can see that the production are not interested in her.

I agree with you that Joshua has got a good voice, but DeAndre suffers from coming off too much like a pretty boy type despite the Music that his trying to do, and Jessica would be better if she stopped shouting and actually picked good songs to sing.

I thought that week 4 was a few steps backwards on week 3, there was one standout performance, a few okay ones at best, and quite a few ****ty performances imo.

My rankings.

1. Elise Testone - Easily stole the night for me, for starters the song is awesome and she Rocked it out fantastically imo, she was the only one to actually perform on the night as well whilst the others was doing the one requirement and failing the other where as Elise just ticked both the vocal and the performance off, it's probably my favourite performance of the season so far if that's saying much tbf.

2. Jessica Sanchez - Finally a good song that I like that's not been done to death on these shows, she actually sounded better on this than on her last performance, the only problem for me is that she just doesn't standout as a vocalist or performer very much, the song and the clever arrangement very much saved her and made her look more interesting than she actually is.

3. Joshua Ledet - He did his usual in that he delivered a solid vocal performance, the only thing is that he picks really dull songs to sing, something with more atmosphere would be nice.

4. DeAndre Brackensick - He did reach the high notes which is a positive, the negative though was how pained that he looked just to try and reach the high notes, his not suppose to show the audience that it's taking effort to hit them.

5. Skylar Laine - She was ropey throughout most of the performance, but tbf she did start getting into it towards the end which is more than what I can say for some of the others on the night.

6. Colton Dixon - His an act that really wasted his potential it seems to me, a shame though as I really like the song that he sung.

7. Heejun Han - A decent voice, but really dull song choice again killed his performance.

8. Phillip Phillips - His performances annoy me a lot, and he keeps going for the samey MOR Rock sound every week, can he do any other type of Rock or other genres like Colton and Elise have been forced to do every week? And the same for the other acts tbf, I don't like how Phillip Phillips got an easy ride on this show.

9. Hollie Cavanagh - She should've gone home tbh.

I've been busy lately so I haven't been watching the show, anyway my top 8 rankings.

1. Colton Dixon - Again not perfect, but it was a fun energetic performance and his vocal overall was still acceptable imo.

2. DeAndre Brackensick - I don't understand why he was eliminated on this night tbh, I know it wasn't the greatest night but he was far from the most offensive imo.

3. Joshua Ledet - The most polished vocals on the night, but his song choices are so cliched and dull it hinders his performances in my eyes.

4. Jessica Sanchez - It wasn't brilliant, but it at least had a kick to it which is more than some of the other performances on the night.

5. Philip Philips - Nearly all of his performances sound the exact same as each other, I normally defend the alternative acts when that sort of criticism crops up, but this guy really did do it.

6. Elise Testone - I felt sorry for her as I've heard her do better, the production clearly like Colton and Philip more out of the Rockers hence this song choice to humiliate her where she lost control which they knew would happen.

7. Skylar Laine - It was just too boring for me.

8. Hollie Cavanagh - If only she was overweight and had dark hair you could call her Sam Bailey, Mary Byrne, or that Danica woman that butchered Creep on The Voice USA with all that shouting.
