Where is your evidence that there are less women in these professions because of laziness?

I don't mind women not doing these jobs.I mean yes it's cute when they try to get involved but there are loads of female oriented jobs aswell.Whether people choose to accept it or not.Men and women are different which is a good thing. We each have our different skill sets and i appreciate the hard work that women do.It's unrealistic to expect women to be carrying hods of bricks up and down ladders or around a building site. You just carry on as you are women. We(most of us) appreciate you for who you are.

=the truth;8522106]I disagree. no one demands a man. they just want their stuff fixed. Its not the old boys network, its high time women simply got on with it.
I didn't say anyone demands a man, I said want and expect. Yeah they want their stuff fixed but they will have expectations of what that entails. A lot of women do "get on with it". In my home, I do all the decorating, I can change a tyre, I can assemble furniture and do basic DIY.....why, because my parents (plural), taught me as I will teach my son with his dad. It's not just down to women to get off their arses and take off their false nails and eyelashes as you so succinctly put it but it's down to men and women to teach the next generation.

Three years ago we bought an ancient derelict building in Briancon and turned it into 6 modern apartments. I got really involved in the building work which included helping to lay a new roof which was 100ft up (but I'm a climber so enjoyed that). I learnt to use a circular brick saw, nail guns, angle grinder and circular table saw and although I loved it' the things I couldn't do was carry heavy loads or lift and move weighty things and I didn't have the strength to knock down walls with a sledge hammer.

I always believed that I could do any job a man could do but six months of that sort of manual work really did me in; I just didn't have the same physical strength that a man does. I respect any woman who gives this sort of job a go but I think some jobs are definitely mans work.

A very good and realistic answer.I've done loads of manual work and it's tough going for a man too(even though we don't usually admit it). It's unfair to expect women to do things that they are not physically capable of.Women give birth.I've witnessed that twice and god knows i would'nt wanna do it.I think we should all accept the differences and let women be women and men be men.

Indeed. Also men get less distracted as they are less inclined to gossip and want to talk endlessly about feelings and clothes.

tell that to new labour. according to them, every person is equal. they sadly got confused, equal opportunities yes, equal no, everyone is different.

Ha.Yes true.I always feel slightly uneasy when i see a woman driving a bus.
I once saw a woman breast feeding a baby whilst driving!
Constantly see them applying lippy in the mirror whilst driving too.So many distractions for females.
