It was in large part sold on immigration and if it hadn't been, if it had been sold on "control of law and trade", the vote wouldn't have swung that way.

It's more to do with the victims I think... it's still technically classed as terrorism but it's that other "meh, whatever then" terrorism that happens when the victims aren't wEuropean or American (Canadian, Australian, etc.).

You know, like when schools get massacred in the Middle East and people say "Aw shame did you see EastEnders last night?" "That" sort of terrorism.

France is one of the most secular, heavily non-religious (often anti-religious) places in the world and has very low tolerance for religion compared to other countries in western Europe. It also has the highest incidence of home-grown terrorism.

I personally am anti-religious at my very core when it comes down to it but on this one you are just straight up wrong.

Higher standards of real education and knowledge, if we can ever achieve those, would gradually erode the grip of superstition over the generations (this has already started in Britain, IMO) but intolerance will do nothing but generate backlash. Intolerance IS one of the root causes.

It was the same with the Jo Cox murder, as soon as it emerged the perpetrator was a white man who had far-right political leanings, it was no longer about terrorism and clamping down on a poisonous ideology, more 'oh he was just a gardener that was a bit of a loner and had mental health issues ' and the discussion was over

Well Nice has its fair share of immigrants in ghettos, a lot of islam is practised and there are mosques. The Nice killer was targeted and radicalised very quickly. Marseilles has 30-40% Muslim population.

The French themselves may be secular but their immigrant population sure are not
