I think the link would have been immediately apparent to him, and I'm sure it must have been to the task team, surely, so what made them choose that task for him is beyond me.

I, too, am so glad he didn't participate in it.

He didn't take part in last nights task either which was just to drink a rotten egg nog, are there racist connotations to this, don't think so!
