What was the police meant to do? They have to act on information... Should they have done nothing and a child was found dismembered in a storm drain what would've been said?

This was weird as a bike was found near the spot the alleged abduction took place

Act on info obviously they have to do, but I would have thought that for it to be a UK wide news situation, there would be something more than someones word?

Often I disagree with sending sensitive cases straight to the press as to me..it seems dangerous. An abductor could be pushed to kill the child once they realized the eyes of the world were on them...I assume they abduct as they see themselves as clever and as such won't be caught...at least in some cases. Also it kinda pre-warns criminals so they could get rid of evidence and such :S

But how else are they to raise awareness.. If there are no leads they would have to appeal for vigilance to unusual activity/behaviours?

..I was following this story...it's always felt odd because of there being no reported child missing...I still don't understand with the bicycle ...had this guy who has been arrested, put it there himself to corroborate his story or was the child's bike abandoned and he built the story around that...weird though...
