is taking the hope away from others - if they want to own so badly - go and do it in the private sector like everyone else. council stock for people that need it. if you want to own - do it like everyone else has to.
Realistically home ownership is becoming more difficult than ever and a lot less people will be able to get on the housing ladder.

If there is regular investment in council housing one should balance out the other, and with less people needing to rent and more people buying it can only be a good thing for our economy. I think giving lower-paid workers the opportunity to own their own home also encourages financial responsibility and self-worth, which is in turn passed from generation to generation.

many other countrys rent and that is the norm - don't no what the obsession is with buying. its fuelling this problem and putting people in deep debt ie from borrowing way over there limit.
