Hey, so I bought a chromebook last year as my Compaq laptop died on me. Before that I had an Acer, which was pretty good. I want something better now as the Chromebook freezes a lot and I'm limited to what I can do on it. Plus, I really just want to play Sims 4.
Anyone have any good recommendations for what they found to be the best? I don't want to spend anything more than 350 which I know is kind of on a budget. Plus I don't want a notebook, I like a big screen.

My current laptop is Toshiba which certainly seems good. The HP ones look decent too.
what about something like this? http://www.dell.com/ie/p/inspiron-15...-laptop-ubuntu I know Dell have a good reputation but how cheap this is concerns me, it runs Ubuntu which I've never used so I don't know how that would work.

You want an i3 or an i5 not a celeron or similar. 8gb ram, and preferably an SSD or Hybrid rather than a mechanical HD (this makes a HUGE difference in laptops). Ideally for playing the sims you'd also want a dedicated mobile graphics card but that might be asking a lot for 350, so integrated will have to do there.
I wouldn't get a Linux (Ubuntu) laptop unless you know how to use it. That said... You can get Windows 10 licences dirt cheap (like less than Ł10) so if you know someone who can install it for you it would be fine. |

Oh but that one you linked to has a crappy processor and a really slow HD. 5400rpm hard drive in a celeron laptop is going to take like 5 minutes just to load up Windows. Urgh.

If you got the money an Asus, Acer or Lenovo laptop with an i5 -processor (or better) and at least an 100 GB SSD hard drive. (A laptop i do not have myself)
If you want it to have a DVD/CD drive, your best bet is to go with a HP laptop. https://www.cpubenchmark.net/ http://uk.pcmag.com/laptops http://www.notebookreview.com/ http://www.laptopmag.com/t/laptops https://www.productchart.com/laptops/ http://www.toptenreviews.com/compute...top-computers/ Last edited by Calderyon; 21-05-2017 at 07:23 PM. |

I have the touchscreen HP (which I accidentally smashed the screen of so it's no longer touch screen) and I've had it about 3/4 years and it's lasted me well. Still works perfectly, just the screen kinda limits the touchscreen.

thanks everyone. thinking of going with something like this https://www.productchart.com/laptops/6758
bit bulky but fits the specs everyone is recommending. even a second hand one of this should be fine?
