Still Skyrim, always Skyrim. It's easily the worst Bethesda game, its so shallow compared to every other Fallout/Elder Scrolls. Though Fallout 4 did seem to learn a few lessons from it.

I can't agree on the basis of the PC version, with the right selection of mods, being utterly brilliant. But yes, "vanilla" skyrim is sort of boring. A lot of the improvements made for FO4 have pretty obvious roots in Skyrim mods. Then again I doubt I would have enjoyed Fallout 4 half as much without mods... So, I guess I'd agree that console versions of elder scrolls / fallout games are generally over rated? I know they have some mods too now but literally all of the best ones (e.g. Combat mods for skyrim that make it tactical and perilous rather than sword/spell spam) are all script extender mods which aren't available on console.

For over rated that I've actually played I'll go with Civ 6. Purely on the grounds that it's just not as fun as Civ 5, which is never a good sign.

Something about basic Skyrim just feels... ugh. Every quest sends you into a dungeon and every dungeon has those white walker wannabes. It just feels so uncreative. The Dragonborn DLC was fairly good though. Fallout 4 just feels like it has so much more to it, not every quest is about going into a dungeon to find a McGuffin. It just seems to have a lot more meat to it (though it could still improve). I just hope lessons have been learned for the next Elder Scrolls.
